It’s summer season in this part of the globe. And as I sweltered under the heat of the sun, I also crave for something so frivolous as a strawberry shake. This recipe is basically like a throwback to the 60’s where you can see your friends hang out in side street cafes sipping fruit shakes instead of a Starbucks coffee.

This recipe is from AllRecipes.com.

(serves one)

4 cups strawberries, hulled

2 cups ice cubes

2 cups milk

4 cups strawberry ice cream

2 teaspoons white sugar

I am starting to believe that people of yesteryears have better shot of living a longer and healthier…

Popular fast food chain McDonald’s is now claiming that they are the kind of fast food restaurant where you can see healthy foods on their menus. Should we believe them or not? According to Cindy Goody, a McDonald’s nutritionist, all foods from McDonald’s fits a diet for a healthy and active lifestyle. She said that because of their varied menus, customers can choose healthy foods that will suit their lifestyles.

In part, I agree with this. It is usually the customers and consumers who choose what they eat, which will eventually lead them to good or bad health. But can we really believe that McDonald’s is the one that would lead…

We all know that low-cal regular foods don’t actually make us lose weight, but make us gain more. How ironic is that right? The same, however, goes for your dogs. If you’re trying to make them lose weight, beware. Low-cal dog foods aren’t actually contributing to your dog’s losing weight.

Recent studies showed that diet pet food doesn’t actually help our dogs to drop pounds, but they contribute to their weight problems. According to the Journal of the American Veterinary Association, one cup of diet pet food can contain up to 200 calories. If your dog eats approximately three cups a day then he’s chugging down about 600 calories.

So, if your…

Also called the jiu cai, these Chinese Chives are more recognizable than herbs. These chives have a garlicky flavor and juicy, crisp texture that are perfect for stir-fried. You can also add them to dumplings.

There is also one other variety of the Chinese chives—called the Chinese yellow chives. These are chives that grow under cover without exposure to sunlight, which causes the yellow pigment. Then, there are also the flowering chives, which are named for their hollow, light green stems and yellow buds. The stalks are light and crisp though these kinds of chives have considerably less garlicky flavor than the green and yellow varieties.

You can find Chinese chives in…

If you can improve the nutritional benefits of junk foods, then you’re on your way to becoming a food messiah. The food industry has recently reached out to White House and said that they are ready to improve the nutrition of their products.

But of course, if we are to believe that companies will cut down on their junk food production, that would be a total waste of effort. Companies are only ready to follow certain legislations if there’s something for them too.

The White House is working on putting healthier stuff on shelves, but a spokesman for Grocery Manufacturers Association said that the industry can very well produce healthier stuff on…
