Single set training, or high-intensity training, is characterized by maximal efforts performed in one set while multiple set training (also called volume training), “is lifting which involves multiple sets of usually sub-maximal efforts.” Obviously, all of us have a different take on which one’s better. There are factors that must be taken into consideration, of course, like different needs, goals and different amounts of periodization methods.

But then a study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research helps us understand better what the big debate is…

A lot of study has found out some really interesting stuff these past few months. And this is no different. A recent research is suggesting that the antioxidants found in berries can prevent artery hardening, which is a major precursor to heart disease.

Published in the journal Food Chemistry, scientists found out that those hamsters that they fed with high-fat diet and rasberry, bilberry or strawberry juices show signs of halting of fatty deposits in the heart. It then led experts to predict that consuming polyphenol-rich (an antioxidant) berry juices and tea may have implications to public health and common heart ailments.

I think it is safe to say that we don’t…

Remember the time where you can pull out your jeans without having to open the buttons? That is exactly where this work out will try to take you again (although not skinny enough where your jeans will be too loose for you to wear).

The Skinny Jeans Workout by Lisa Grimmer is programmed to work specifically on the core, butt and thighs. Grimmer said that the exercise program will work out anything that is inside your pants. A recent testimonial from CNN said that “It’s different than your typical workout class. It’s not high-impact cardio, but you’re sweating the whole time because you’re working every muscle group.”

The program works…

So here now are five exercises for “lazy people:”

1. Upon arriving at home, change into something that will make your sports spirit alive. Either a t-shirt or jogging pants from your previous alma mater would help. It would also be good if you’re into…

As I read an accompanying article with the new vibration plate machine, I remember a movie starring Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone called “Blast from the Past.” In a scene from there, Christopher Walken (who played Fraser’s genius / lunatic father) was filmed riding a plate machine with a belt strapped to his waist while it vibrates. This gives an effect of maybe burning belly fats (just a wild guess).

Anyway, the Power Plate is an innovation to the vibration plate machine. All you need to do is to step onto the plate and gyrate your waist as it vibrates. Researchers are claiming the vibrating machines is especially effective for weight…
