I’m not usually a fan of anything preserves although at times that I can’t whip up something good, I have no choice but to open a jar or a can and devote myself to eating something I don’t believe in. And I especially hate eating spaghetti sauces from jars. Growing up with my mother, I have always looked for that delicious and excellent tomato sauces that she makes.

And because she’s not here now to make some for me, I decided to try something off the rack–Mario Batali’s Jarred Tomato Sauce. The sauce is made of San Marzano tomatoes and slivers of garlics with no added sugar and preservatives. What more,…

Just a month ago, I came by a restaurant that offers a very good Philly Cheesesteak. The problem though is that it costs a hefty $30, which is something I cannot pay on a daily or regular basis just for cheesesteak. So anyway, I browsed through the Internet and saw this simple recipe for Philly Cheesesteak.

Optional: sweet green and red peppers, sauteed

Procedure:

- Heat 3 tbls. oil in skillet

- Saute onions until tender

It’s ironic to think that people are even leaning on buying more expensive and fancier foods when times are tough instead of tightening their belts, and thinking of ways to ease into their cravings without sacrificing their budgets.

A new study, which appeared in the Journal of Consumer Research, says that “a state of upheaval changes peoples choices.” People are found to be trying out newer things during tough times, so that probably explains the reason why I’m craving for hard-to-find foods days before I get my bi-monthly salary. There’s just something in me that craves for more stuff that I can’t afford when I should be trying to scrimp on…

As much as I am fond of spicy food, I don’t like using pepper to get that burning kick. I usually put hot sauce or some chili flakes on my food if I like them spicy. But in the interest of giving justice to peppercorns, we’ll give you a rundown of different kinds of peppercorn.

Black Peppercorns

The fruit, known as a peppercorn when dried, is a small drupe approximately five millimetres in diameter, dark red when fully mature, containing a single seed. Peppercorns, and the powdered pepper derived from grinding them, may be described as black pepper, white pepper, green pepper, and very often simply pepper.  Dried ground pepper is one…

We usually get hungry after working out. That might be because of change that is happening inside our bodies. And so here are some ways for you to curb your post workout hunger.

1. Eat intuitively, consciously and only until you take the edge off your hunger. The “hara hachi bu” principle (eat only until 80% full) should become your mantra.

2. Make an especially concerted effort to eat healthily and judiciously post workout. Either a solid or liquid meal as soon as possible after your session is ideal.

3. f you find you are ravenous after workouts, try eating anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes before exercising. This can help curtail post…

My alcohol tolerance is not much to boast about. I usually get tipsy after three bottles of light beer. And I usually get knocked out by half a bottle of tequila. So as usual in my own way, I tried to research about the steps I can take in order not to be drunk after having a few drinks.

1. Try to limit yourself, and if you are no good with self control just go out with some friends and ask one of them to stop you after so many drinks. If you have been drinking for a long time, you should know that is your limit.

2. The second step is…
