Flaxseed Helps Lower Cholesterol

If you’re thinking that flaxseed oil can help lower your cholesterol (since there are some studies that claim it can), you’re wrong. It turns out that only whole flaxseed can do that.

Flaxseed are little vitamin pills loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, which is good for the heart, digestive system and brain health. A new study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, shows that people consuming whole flaxseed had posted a decrease in total cholesterol level and LDL cholesterol. This is especially true in individuals with higher levels of cholesterol from the start.

So remember that it is not flaxseed oil that can help you lower your cholesterol level. Better stop munching on those pills as the only benefit it can give you is maybe a more toned muscle and healthier-looking skin. If you’ve got problems with your cholesterol level, start eating whole flaxseed for good health.
