Plenty of high-fiber cereal prides itself for its ability to ward off colon cancer and improve colon health (or so it says). So it may not come a surprise for some that a new study has just found out that eating more fiber lowers the risk of colon growth and polyps.
Scientists put to test a group of people to eat a low-fat, high-fiber diet. After for years, they found “no difference in the rate of polyp recurrence.” Also, a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology shows that people who followed the strict diet had 30 percent lower risk of developing a polyp, and 50 percent lower risk of getting one or more polyp.
I know these medical studies sometimes suck as they usually provide us with diets that we have no intention of following. But come to think of it, these results are actually beneficial to us. They may not exactly promote serious eating, but following them will result to a longer and more healthy life.
