Cherries

Widely known as the super fruit, cherries have overwhelming nutritional benefits that we usually overlook just because we use these fruits for garnish instead as a main ingredient in our desserts. Cherries are rich in antioxidants, making them the most convenient fruit that can battle cancer.

There are two types of cherries—the sweet variety and the sour cherries. Sweet cherries can mostly be found in supermarkets while sour (or tart) cherries are harder to find. Both versions of this fruit contain beta carotene, vitamin C, iron, magnesium, fiber and potassium although tart cherries are known to pack in more vitamin C and beta carotene with fewer calories.

Among the health benefits of cherries are that it can prevent the development of cancer, and they are also known to reduce pain and inflammation from rheumatoid arthritis and gout. They can also help in weight loss, as well as prevent diabetes and heart disease, lower cholesterol and help regulate sleep loss and prevent memory loss.

It’s easy to add cherries in your daily habits since they can be made into juice, or you can also add it to your cereal or oatmeal for breakfast.
