Consumers Can't Tell Pâté from Dog Food!

Here’s a laugh out: As many of you know, pate is a French food made from mashed meat, liver, fat, wine and spices. It’s usually served in big city and high-end parties and is considered one of the finest food out of the French cuisine.

But in a recent study—titled “Can people distinguish Pate from Dog Food?”—made by the American Association of Wine Economists, it found out that only 3 out of 18 subjects were able to identify the dog food from the pate.

Although provided they did not choose the dog food over the pate but still, 3 out of 18? That’s a pretty disgusting figure. Taste-testers were made to eat an organic canned turkey and chicken dog food against duck liver mousse and pork liver pate—also spam and liverwurst—and well, only 3 of them found out the dog food for what it is.

Come to think of it, pate does awfully look like my dog’s food. Even showman Stephen Colbert, who sampled a can of Fancy Feast cat food on his show—is confused between the pate and a dog’s food. He said, “Not only is it delicious, it says right here. It’ll make my coat silky.”

What a riot!
