Obesity has been a problem in the United States for the past years. The rising percentage of obesity has been hounding health experts. But with today’s modern technology, it’s not such a big surprise that children are becoming unhealthier than ever before.
In an average of 10,000 commercials that a child sees in a year, 9,500 of these commercials are about fast food, candies, sugar-coated cereals and soft drinks. If you’re a parent, here are some tips that you can do to help your child break away from the obesity trend.
* Turn off the television and video games.
* Become more active as a family.
* Encourage an overweight child that it’s important to release the weight to make their life better not to make people like them or accept them more.
* Keep healthy snacks (grab and go items) easily accessible. Be encouraging and positive during this time.
* Keep water easily accessible and drink it often.
Reward system still works! Tell your kid that you will reward them with a toy that they like if they keep doing these tips with you. Also, healthy snacks include baby carrots, raw almonds, broccoli, grapes, raisins, fat-free yogurt, string cheese, bananas and apples.
