When the Gym Becomes Dangerous

If you think that gym will make you fitter and feel better, think again. According to a study by the Consumer Products Safety Commission, gym can pose some hazards at it lands some 50,000 emergencies in a year.

Treadmill is the most common source of energy. Many gym-goers fall from the treadmill, the stability balls and other balance equipment. Also, in skipping ropes alone, there are 169 incidences of emergency.

Here are also some other gym-related injuries:

* Dropping weights on your toes.
* Tripping over equipment on the floor (dumbbells, benches, bands, BOSU’s, people’s gym bags that-shouldn’t-be-in-the-gym-area-in-the-first-place.
* Weight stacks (watch your fingers when you pull the pin out).
* Chrome dumbbell slivers.

But as with many things in this life, the best way to do in order to prevent injuring yourself during gym-related activities is to use your common sense. Common courtesy is also a much needed attitude for those who regularly go to the gym. Don’t leave your dumbbells lying everywhere since someone may accidentally trip on it.
