Overeating? Come To Your Senses

Talks of eating healthily and cutting in on your food binges got me wondering what possibly could our body do to prevent eating when it is so much more satisfying than anything in this world. Then, I stumbled upon this article that says we can use our senses to fight overeating.

It is not that we crave automatically for sweets but our taste buds do. So the next best thing to do is to incorporate some sweetness in our main dishes so there’ll be no more need for us to order desserts.

And because we can’t avoid smelling certain things (especially those grilled burgers and fries), we can try taking a different path than the streets where the smell of burgers and fries would normally waft in the air. You can also try familiarizing yourself with the smell so, your body can automatically shut its cravings off when you smell certain aromatic foods.

Seeing food everywhere? How about (unlike me) prevent yourself from researching the best restaurants in town and instead, content yourself on what your refrigerator got for you. And when a food commercial pops up while watching TV? Simply switch to another channel to curb that craving.

Try to be conscious about your surroundings, and don’t let yourself indulge or else, you’ll only get a sterling warning from your mind telling you that you have yet failed again in your quest to avoid calorie-rich foods.
