For many people, pizza is the ultimate comfort food. But for dieters, it is the evil of every known diet program in the world. Lately though, experts are seemingly finding something good to do with pizza. In fact, pizza shop owner Matt McClellan has just invented the Pizza Diet.
He decided to prove that pizza can be a healthy way to lose weight and improve overall health. In an experiment, McClellan proved that he was able to lose 24 pounds in just 30 days. His cholesterol level also went down from 243 to 157 while his blood pressure dropped from 140/90 to 118/80.
There is also a significant drop in his body fat—from 19 percent to only 9 percent after going through the 30-day pizza diet. His overall body mass index (BMI) after the diet went from 26.9 percent to 23.6 percent.
For 30 days, the diet consists of McClellan eating eight slices of pizza over a 12-hour period. His first slice is at 9am then his last slice is at 9pm. Every day, the total calories he got from pizza is 2,500. But during the diet, he also has to go through some exercises like 60 minutes of cardio and weight training.
With this, he was able to prove that pizza can be healthy if taken in moderation. The key to diet is a healthy proportion of everything.
