McDonald

Popular fast food chain McDonald’s is now claiming that they are the kind of fast food restaurant where you can see healthy foods on their menus. Should we believe them or not? According to Cindy Goody, a McDonald’s nutritionist, all foods from McDonald’s fits a diet for a healthy and active lifestyle. She said that because of their varied menus, customers can choose healthy foods that will suit their lifestyles.

In part, I agree with this. It is usually the customers and consumers who choose what they eat, which will eventually lead them to good or bad health. But can we really believe that McDonald’s is the one that would lead us to nutrition in terms of the fast food industry? The chain is, indeed, making an effort—what with cutting down calories from some of their menus and even coming up with 100 percent fruit juice, apple dippers, fruit yogurt and fruit and walnut salads. They even tried to cut down on sodium intake.

And yet, some of customers in a recent survey proved that if they want to get their fast food fix, they can get it anywhere. Remember, McDonald’s is not the only fast food restaurant out there. It goes without saying that introducing healthier foods in their menus may only just cut down their profits and not necessarily make people eat healthier stuff.
