Pet Food

We all know that low-cal regular foods don’t actually make us lose weight, but make us gain more. How ironic is that right? The same, however, goes for your dogs. If you’re trying to make them lose weight, beware. Low-cal dog foods aren’t actually contributing to your dog’s losing weight.

Recent studies showed that diet pet food doesn’t actually help our dogs to drop pounds, but they contribute to their weight problems. According to the Journal of the American Veterinary Association, one cup of diet pet food can contain up to 200 calories. If your dog eats approximately three cups a day then he’s chugging down about 600 calories.

So, if your dog is overweight, don’t  just depend on dog food. Instead, talk to your vet about food recommendation and portion sizes, read labels for nutritional facts, stick with one food your dog likes, reduce the amount of food your dog eats every day and exercise with your dog every day.

Hey, exercising might actually help. It will not only help your dog lose weight, but it might actually help you lose some pounds too.
