Big Bum, Hips and Thighs: They're "In" Apparently!

Having big bums, hips and thighs may not actually be such a negative thing. A new study is now saying that these things may actually be healthy. Well, at least according to the study, it is better than having a heavy middle.

The researchers looked at the studies done on the health benefits of lower body fat, called gluteofemoral, to find out what it is better than having fats around your middle. This study, published in the International Journal of Obesity, also said that the fat around the thighs and hips are different to the fat around the waist.

According to Dr. Manolopoulos, the fat on the lower body works differently than the fats around the middle part of your body. In that case, according to him, celebrities like JLo are better role models for women than other skinny models.

Fat around the bum, hips and thighs break more slowly than fat around the waist. And since it does, it produces fewer inflammatory cytokines, which have been previously linked to heart diseases, diabetes and obesity.

For women, the healthy waist-to-hip ratio is 0.86 or less while for men the healthy ratio would be 0.95 or less.
