But because those are the best and easiest ways to go on a diet, and be able to actually lose weight, many people are asking if it is possible to lose weight without spending big bucks.

Many experts are saying that despite not being able to afford high-priced diet methods, it is possible to lose weight without spending too much.

“What matters most is your level of motivation and your willingness to change,” psychologist Kelly Brownell said in a New York Times…

So maybe you have lost the fat, and you can now fit in most of your “thin clothes,” but there’s not hiding the fact that you still sometimes think you carry that weight you have just lost. The self-image that accompanies being fat can never be truly lost even after you have shed off the pounds.

Studies are calling this the “phantom fat” phenomenon, and here their theories of these:

* The excess fat is gone when people reach their goal weight, but they may have sagging skin, cellulite or a body shape that they still deem undesirable.
* “People who were formerly overweight often still carry that internal image perception with them,”…

Now, just to clear the air, I mean “excess weight,” but not too many, can lead to longer life. Weighing above your average weight is still bad for you especially if it’s too high up in the level.

The US population study found out that there are actually more deaths in the thin range than in the overweight range. In fact, according to Dr. Abby Aronowitz, every population study leads to the exact same conclusion.

For the elderly, some excess weight is actually protective. “Many health conditions associated with being overweight, like high blood pressure, may have developed because people are living so long. However, these conditions are now successfully treated with…

I may not be much an advocate of dieting stuff but I sure can tell when something can help us lose weight, or at least bit our food cravings to dust. I know, in theory, that chewing gum can also be a cause to lose weight, but I never thought that some experts have been thinking along the same line as I do.

Chewing gum may increase serotonin, increase alertness and concentration, improve ability to learn and study and even burn an additional 11 calories per hour, which is what we’re really after right? Also, sugar-free gum containing xylitol reduces bacteria in the mouth, and can even reduce plaque and cavities.

A new study has found out there’s actually link between food allergy and obesity in kids. An experiment involving 4000 children has suggested the said result.

The children who participated in the study were aged 2 and 19 years old. Before the experiment took place, wider health factors beside obesity and allergies were considered by Dr. Cindy Visness, the research head.

“Overweight and obese children were over 50 percent more likely than those of normal weight to be allergic to milk. Over all, the obese and overweight children were about 25 percent more likely to have one or more food allergies,” the New York Times was quoted as saying.

A study published in the Obesity Journal suggests that obese people have a different physical response to food than average food eaters. Most of us don’t know the reasons why people overeat so, this study is a good source for us to realize why we sometimes eat more than what our body needs.

The study involved placing lemon juice and water on the participants’ tongues then measuring through cotton swabs the amount of saliva produced over time. It found out that most obese individuals salivate more than the usual. They have longer response to a new taste than those people with normal weight.

Dr. Bond, the study’s primary author says that: “Saliva…

This might be the right time to tell you: turn your back on those diet programs and read on…

Experts have recently tested lab rats (yes, rats as in mice), scrambled their lives, feed them fatty foods and later found out that they did not even gain one iota of weight.

In a study published in the Cell Metabolism journal, scientists put a molecular shunt in the liver cells of some 94 mice. The shunts were implanted with enzyme normally found in bacteria and plants (not in animals).

The researchers fed the mice with high-fat foods (think fastfood and junk foods), but they all stayed lean and mean. Their livers, implanted by molecular…
