Surprisingly, the US Food and Drug Adminstration (I just found out) have little jurisdiction to regulate bottled water in the country. While town waters are required to publish reports in water testing, bottled water companies, on the other hand, are not required to do so.

A recent report by the Environmental Working Group found that less than 2 percent of popular bottled waters in the country are revealing where they are getting the water, how it was being purified and the possible chemical pollutants it contain.

And unlike tap water, “bottled water doesn’t have to be tested by a certified laboratory.” They are also not required to inform customers within 24 hours…

Since Carnie Wilson and Star Jones underwent the knife for gastric bypass (in hopes, of course, of shedding off some unwanted pounds), it suddenly became an instant diet method in the eyes of many body-conscious people. With gastric bypass, however, comes a big price to pay. Research has found out that undergoing this particular surgery can cause illnesses to people like hernia, infection and malnutrition.

And what’s even more disheartening about the side effects of gastric bypass is the possibility of having kidney stones because of it. Kidney stones are no laughing matter. the combination of oxalate and calcium to make little clusters result to kidney stones. This could then get…

Interesting enough, a new study found out that rhesus monkeys (a distant cousin of Donkey Kong, we presume) are healthier and are more youthful because of their calorie-restricted diets.

The report, which was published in 2006, said that two rhesus monkeys underwent an experiment where Canto (age 27) and Owen (age 29) are entered into two different diets.

Owen was allowed to eat as many as they like, and without restrictions. Twenty years later, Owen looks old and unfit. But Canto, who went through a calorie-restricted diet, “had no diabetes and less incidences of heart disease and cancer.”

It has been proven over and over that there’s an interesting connection between the anatomy…

I have always feared entering a Starbucks shop, but I can’t even stop myself from going to one. My reason? I simply have no will in myself to resist their baked goods. My love for anything sweet (pastries, cakes, etc) overpowers my need to go in a diet.

But lately, I have noticed that Starbucks has started to introduce something new to the marker. With the slogan “Real food. Simply delicious.,” Starbucks has taken into a whole new meaning of healthy foods. Their baked goods now have no artificial flavors, artificial trans fats, artificial dyes or high-fructose corn syrup.

There’s also the new Vivanno smoothie and Protein Plate (cheese, hard–boiled egg, whole…

A dinner for me usually means a small serving of macaroni and cheese and a small triangle of bread. That’s it. My perennial diet has put me in a position where I cannot eat high-calorie food during dinner. But my problem is that mac ‘n cheese all tastes the same for me when you eat it every other day.

So, here’s a simple twist to the classic mac ‘n cheese:

Ingredients: (serves 12)

1 (1 pound) loaf processed cheese food (such as Velveeta®), cubed

2 cups tomato juice

1/4 cup butter

1 pound bacon

Procedure:

* Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
* Bring a large…

Mississippi has just been named as the fattest state in the United States, where 32.5% of the people are supposedly obese. The study also showed that 23 states over the past year posted an increase in obesity among adults. No state showed any major decline in its people’s weight gain.

America has always lived in fear of aging, sickly baby boomers. And now with this new study result, experts are becoming worried since American adults 65 years and older are now fatter than ever. This could seriously injure the US medical insurance system.

The strain that this would cause in the future is frightening. For example, an article said that “aging boomers…
