Most people think that runners have a higher risk of developing knee problems in the future than non-runners. And this was actually proven by a 1999 study that showed women who are active in heavy physical sports as teenagers have a high risk of developing hip osteoarthritis.

But a recent study is now disproving that fact, and is in fact saying that there is no connection between running and joint injury. More, it says that running may even be protective of the joints. According to the study, commissioned by the Stanford University and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine by author James Fries, there is no correlation between running and…

I bet we can all agree that women are more conscious of their weights rather than men. But there may be great cause for this concern since a 10-year longitudinal study showed that weight gain in women appear more often when they get married and when they have their first child.

But surprisingly, the study also said that “there was no effect on the rate of weight gain of having a second baby.” What’s even more interesting is that the results also showed that women gain weight whether they are single or not.

It said that women without a husband and without a baby gain an average of about 11 pounds per…

A recent article at Forbes said that kids are being pushed into organized sports too early for their age, at a time when they should be enjoying their time to play.

“There is too much focus on doing sports and not enough focus on moving”, Dr. Teri McCambridge, chairman of the Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness for the American Academy of Pediatrics, said. According to McCambridge, fitness should be a time of fun for kids.

Organized activities should be limited to once a week, Pete McCall of the American Council on Exercise said, it should not be the main activity for kids. He also said that pushing kids to excel on…
