There have been a slew of new advertisements today that uses heavy models so as not to discriminate women too much. But a new study found out that using heavy-looking models for ads are actually not helping at all. Although both Dove and Glamour magazine did their share of using normal-looking women still, the research said that normal bodies do not do well in ads as it promotes the wrong kind of message.

“We found that overweight consumers demonstrated lower self-esteem - and therefore probably less enthusiasm about buying products - after exposure to any size models in ads [versus ads with no models],” the study said. Using heavier models for…

Since salt is a great preserver, most boxed foods contain high sodium that is not good for our health. If you want macaroni and cheese from Kraft, chances are that it will come packed with high sodium content.

The problem though is salt raises a human’s blood pressure, making it unhealthy for people who are suffering from certain diseases. And because of that, Kraft company decided to cut down on their salt content by 10 percent. That’s approximately 10 million pounds or 750 million teaspoons.

The only predicament I see in this situation is that Kraft might sacrifice the flavor that comes with your usual boxed mac and cheese. Salt is one…

Most of the times, when we’re sad or depressed, we tend to overeat. The problem though is that even though you have emotionally solved your problems for the moment, your waistline increases together with the bag of potato chips you have just devoured.

One major thing you should do is to take control of your emotions, so you can stop overeating when you’re feeling emotional, etc. According to one blog by Donna DeCunzo-Taddeo, “Overeating is a result of habits and responses learned throughout life, especially at an early age. Many of us have learned to overeat in response to stress, anxiety, frustration and boredom.”

Reconditioning your feelings, however, will help you to…

If you often find yourself getting depressed because somehow you cannot eat your favorite sweets and get your daily caffeine boost, well this might be an answer to your predicament.

The Le Whif is a chocolate- or coffee-flavored treat that you cannot eat, but you do inhale. Sounds interesting huh? This product uses the power of aerosol to deliver a quick and non-fattening fix of chocolate, coffee, mint chocolate or even chocolate-raspberry flavor. But the best thing about this treat is that you don’t chew it or swallow it, so it doesn’t go to your belly.

This Le Whif uses the technology of particle engineering wherein manufacturers used flavor particles that are…

According to nutritionists, there are only two main reasons why one should fail on a diet method. One is that the diet itself failed, and two is when you yourself failed the diet.

If you choose diet plans that require you to eat only vegetables and fruits, or berries or even cookies, you’re bound to fail that method since it’s completely impossible for one human being to live on fruits and vegetables alone.

That’s a classic example of the diet failing. But when nutritionists say you yourself have failed the diet, it probably means that you have entered a good diet plan (maybe one of those healthy diets), and yet you somehow…

Most people, especially young people, perceive a healthy body to mean a thin and light body. But that’s not the case. Anorexic people are commonly seen as sexy or what not but the truth is, they are the unhealthiest breed you can find.

A healthy body means having the right perception of your size, and feeling confident and good about it. What becomes negative in dieting is when you begin to compare yourself to others thereby making you self-conscious about your body.

Here are three steps to a healthier body image:

1. Respect your body
2. Focus on what matters
3. Stop comparing yourself

Some of the most important things to understand with dieting is you…

Sneaking more nutrients to your lunch or dinner is important since this is one way to get to a healthier lifestyle. Vegetables such as kale, mustard greens, bok choy and swiss chard are the things that we should incorporate in our meals, however, we cannot always find recipes for these kinds of vegetables.

What should we do? Cook dishes wherein you can out a little bit of these vegetables. Here’s what you should do: take in a good amount of these greens, chop them finely, put them into a blender and then pour it together with onion. Most moms think that running after their kids can be considered a form of exercise. But a new study disproves this belief, and said that chasing kids is not much a workout after all.

Parenting can be mentally and physically exhausting, but when researchers studied a group of 58 mothers with young children, they found out that most of them are only getting about 30 minutes of exercise a day—and those were the ones who do daily regular workouts.

For an active and healthy lifestyle for mothers, here are some tips:

* Invest in a quality jogging stroller.
* Ditto on the bike trailer
* Put it on your schedule (the workout, I mean).
* Instead…
