If you spend lots of time sitting in front of your desks, then you probably have that strange sensation that you’re getting fatter every minute you spend in front of your tables. And because of this, some company decided to produce this “Sit/Stand Desk,” where users are given the choice to either stand or sit.

The desks apparently have a number of health benefits, including increasing productivity, reducing neck and back pain, providing more energy throughout the day and improving the body’s flexibility. Also, it said that standing up will help us burn more calories than when we are sitting down. Approximately 12 to 50 calories per hour can be lost…

They have a point, you know. It’s not the companies’ fault that Americans can’t seem to stop themselves from pouring sugars on their coffee cups. The Sugar Association Inc. is now saying that Americans should not blame them for the rising number of obesity in the country, and instead should use high-fructose corn syrup.

A representative from the association, Andrew Briscoe, said that it is not actually sugar that is at fault at the rising obesity number. He said that the link between sugar and obesity is “exaggerated,” furthered by the beverage industry that all uses HFCS. He added that only five percent of all sugar deliveries are sent to US…

We always think that eating only fruits and vegetables will help us combat numerous illnesses and diseases. Well, these two—fruits and vegetables—don’t have that much nutritious benefits as what we usually thought.

A study of 478,000 participants found that for every two servings of fruits and vegetables eaten a day, only a paltry three percent were able to decrease chances of cancer. Researchers also said that aside from only eating fruits and vegetables, there are other factors that contributed to the three-percent decrease in cancer risk—those are exercise, lower smoking rates and less red meat consumption.

“Diet is a complex pattern and lifestyle. Cancer is a complex disease. It’s unlikely that one…

It is important for your child to appreciate all four flavors—sweet, salty, sour and bitter. While preparing dinner, you can ask your children to taste the food you are cooking then make them identify the different flavors they are tasting.

Also, make sure you incorporate these flavors to their food, so the taste won’t get lost. You should also encourage…

A healthcare reform bill passed last Sunday is now requiring all chain restaurants nationwide to post calorie counts on their menus. This means that when you order from your favorite fastfood chains, you can now view just how many calories a double cheeseburger will pack.

The provision regarding calorie-count content is pretty simple. If a restaurant has 20 or more branches nationwide, then they are considered as chain restaurants and they must post calorie content on their store menus, menu boards and drive-thrus.

The bill has been supported by various restaurant chains, surprisingly. They said that United States is now moving towards a “transparent” method wherein restaurants are now ready to divulge…
