A new study published in journal Pediatrics suggested that babies who are breast-fed during their infancy consume less calories than those who are bottle-fed. Researchers found that in an experiment 1,250 babies, those who were bottle-fed during their first six months showed less appetite and “self-regulation” later in their lives.

Called the “bottle effect,”  the researchers noted a relation between breast-feeding and lower risk of childhood obesity. According to the study’s author, Dr. Li, “Infant self-regulation can indeed be affected by how the milk is delivered to the baby… The more infants were fed with a bottle, the more likely that they would empty a bottle in late infancy… Infancy is…

A new rule in the United Kingdom banned birthday candies during school times or yes, even during birthdays. But critics have been saying that the new rule might “spoil the childhood”  of some children since it is part of life that they should be able to enjoy the simple pleasures like eating chocolates and candies.

But the pre-schools said that children are still allowed to bring in candies as long as teachers will distribute the candies at the end of the day, so the children’s parents can decide whether to let them eat the candies or not.

Ever since the report that said only one out of five children eat their recommended…

Researchers at Harvard Medical School say that 11 large insurance companies own about $1.9 billion in stock in at least top five fast food companies—McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC and Taco Bell—as of June 2009. Although I can’t really fault them for wanting to earn more money in this day and age of economic crisis; still, big businesses should have moral and social responsibilities right?

The Harvard experts say that insurance companies should sell their…
